What does Sweep actually do?

Sweep connects to your repository, analyzes active pull requests, and prepares maintenance actions such as labels, escalations, or review requests. The first proven live write lane is governed labeling; comments and broader actions require separate proof before widening.

How does Sweep decide what it can execute safely?

Sweep takes a snapshot of your open PRs and evaluates them using a hybrid AI/rule-based engine. Low-impact action proposals are classified as routine when the action type is enabled, while critical updates are flagged for review and user feedback.

Can Sweep change code without my approval?

Sweep does not write code. It is limited to configured repository maintenance lanes such as labeling, commenting, review requests, and future explicitly approved actions. It will not operate outside its configured permissions and policy rules.

How is Sweep different from Gate?

Gate focuses on governance, defining policies, and monitoring your repository's state. Sweep applies those rules to pull request backlog work and prepares governed maintenance actions.

How long does setup take?

Approximately two minutes. You grant Sweep the selected GitHub App permissions for your repository, then it begins by indexing open PR metadata and preparing reviewable actions.

What repositories do you support?

Currently, Sweep supports GitHub repositories. We prioritize standard Git workflows and PR-based review flows.

Do you store my source code or data?

No. Sweep reads pull request metadata and repository signals needed to prepare actions. We do not store or use your proprietary source code.
